之前配过她几年澳洲前总理Gough Whitlam的演讲，觉得她的文笔，真的好。这排比用得，气场强大，排山倒海！令人佩服！所以这次拿来她的演讲节选了几段做段子，真的写的超级好，有些语言点真的值得我们学习！

背景知识：罗兴亚人（Rohingya people）
是缅甸若开邦阿拉干地区的一个穆斯林族群。截至2012年，约有80万罗兴亚人生活在缅甸。他们自称是古代到孟加拉湾经商的阿拉伯人后代，早在公元7世纪就已在缅甸居住。亦有缅甸民族主义者声称，罗兴亚人主要是19世纪英国控制缅甸之后，作为英国殖民当局“以夷制夷”的帮凶移居到缅甸的南亚人与当地部分土著融合后形成的混血民族，此后又融入了1971年第三次印巴战争后逃入缅甸的孟加拉国难民。罗兴亚人信奉伊斯兰教，说孟加拉语的一种方言，从体貌特征以至文化上与孟加拉人相差不大。因为民族习惯不同等多种复杂的原因，其中的激进派成立反政府武装，不断与缅甸发生冲突。罗兴亚人与缅甸占多数的佛教徒之间的关系一直十分紧张，即便是同样信奉伊斯兰教的一些缅甸邻国（如孟加拉国、马来西亚、印度尼西亚等）也经常不愿收留罗兴亚难民。——百度百科

Part 1

演讲的一开始，Cate讲了两个，她亲身在孟加拉见到的两个难民的经历，各个触目惊心（gut-wrenching引起精神或感感上的极度痛苦的）。然后以小见大：If only such stories were atypical. But visiting with refugee families in Bangladesh, I found that they were shockingly routine.这个shocking用的特别好，前一个atypical和后面的routine行程强烈的对比。
用真实的故事开头，更能引起共情！


Part 2

将自己代入到难民中，引起共情。接着三段致谢致敬，句型多变，值得学习：

Part 3

这段主要讲了难民的现状，有两个惭愧的现实：
1.难民每人每天得到的资助少于70美分；
This is not surprising. Rather, it is quite embarrassing.
2.孟加拉国贫穷的村民，自己入不敷出还在帮助罗兴亚难民。
If people with so little can step out, why can't we do better?
这两句直戳要害，让人反思。接下来再次说出难民的需求，小到食物、水源，大到future
a significant gesture of humanity 这个gesture用的很棒，翻译得也不错人道主义里程碑
unscathed [ʌnˈskeɪðd] adj.未受损伤的;

step up 走上前去，引申为站出来出手相助，非常形象

可以辨析的是：

Part 4

这段讲了如何帮助难民，其实应该是呼吁安理会全力支持扶持难民，呼吁更多的国际援助

conducive /kənˈdʒuː.sɪv/ adj 有助于……的
conducive to：Such a noisy environment was not conducive to a good night's sleep.
conducive for：A quiet room is a more conducive atmosphere for studying.

The denial of their rights to move; their right to marry; their right to work; their right to health care and education, renders them among the most vulnerable people on the planet.
vulnerable people 弱势群体；前面一一枚举出罗兴亚人被剥夺的权利，最后的render这个词用的特别棒，毕竟换我们写作可能就写成makes了。。。。

imperative/ɪmˈper.ə.tɪv/ adj. extremely important or urgent:
It's imperative to act now before the problem gets really serious.

robust/rəʊˈbʌst/ adj. (of a person or animal) strong and healthy, or (of an object or system) strong and unlikely to break or fail，or (of food or drink) full of flavor:
She was in robust health.（形容人）
a robust economy（形容体系、物件）
The house blend of coffee is particularly robust.（形容食物）
这里用robust来形容international support意思就是强有力的国际援助
BTW乐百氏就是这个词来的，因为喝了能强壮身体，恩，简单粗暴

urgent and pressing need 突出需求紧急且迫切
以后再也不要写meet the needs of 了 可以在当中加很多形容词，显得又高级又字数多，哈哈哈

后面大魔王又讲到了开头莱拉，回想现在莱拉过得好不好，她的儿子好不好，前后呼应，引起共情，最后说道：
We have failed the Rohingya before.
Please, let us not fail them again.
