On Day 6, we studied several possible intonations of wh-question. So have you tried other similar wh-questions using that methods? I really hope you have done so. Today we are going to study the possible intonations of the following sentence: I didn't tell her Tom took the book.
在Day 6，我们学习了特殊疑问句的语调。那么你有没有用此方法去尝试其他类似的特殊疑问句呢？我很希望你们有这么做。今天我们要学习下边这个句子所有可能的语调：I didn't tell her I wanted the book.

Let's start from stressing the first word.
让我们从重读第一个单词开始。

1. I didn't tell her Tom took the book.

In this sentence you stress "I" to indicate people that you were not the person to tell it and that somebody else did it.
这句话重读"I"，表明不是你告诉她的，而是别人告诉的。
2. I DIDN'T tell her Tom took the book.

In this sentence you stress "didn't" to deny having told her that.
这句话重读"didn't"，表明你否认告诉过她此事。
3. I didn't TELL her Tom took the book.

In this sentence you stress "tell" to indicate that you didn't tell her directly but did suggest it in some way.
这句话重读"tell"，表明你没有直接告诉她那件事，而是通过某种方式暗示她。
4. I didn't tell HER Tom took the book.

In this sentence you stress "her" to indicate that you didn't tell her but did tell somebody else.
这句话重读"her"，表明你没有告诉她此事，而是告诉别人了。
5. I didn't tell her TOM took the book.

In this sentence you stress "Tom" to indicate that you told her someone else not Tom took the book.
这句话重读"Tom"，表明你告诉他是某个其他人拿走了那本书，没有说是Tom拿走的。
6. I didn't tell her Tom TOOK the book.

In this sentence you stress "took" to indicate that Tom borrowed the book and didn't took it.
这句话重读"took"，表明Tom借走了这本书，不是拿走。
7. I didn't tell her Tom took THE book.

In this sentence you stress "the" to indicate that Tom have taken some other book.
这句话重读"the"，表明Tom拿了别的书。
8. I didn't tell her tom took the BOOK.

3'

In this sentence you stress "book" to indicate that Tom may have taken something else.
这句话重读"book"，表明Tom可能拿的是其它的东西。

Now you have learned this, so you can write your own examples and try stressing different words to see what change may happen to their meanings.
现在你已经学会了这个方法，所以你可以写下自己的例子，并尝试重读不同的单词，看看它们的意思有什么变化。
